Reflections over a Cup of Tea

A brief pause, a sip of calm, and one idea for the day.

Cup of tea with a reflective tag: Storms make trees grow deeper roots
Reflections over a Cup of Tea ☕

We live in a world that glorifies haste. We rush from one task to the next, from one notification to another, with the constant feeling that it’s never enough. The noise—outside and inside—rarely gives us a break. Amid this whirlwind, pausing, keeping silent, and reflecting have become almost exotic luxuries.

But what if we could reclaim those moments? What if deeper wisdom were not found only in an intensive course or a distant retreat, but hiding in plain sight—in the simplest rituals of our day?

That question is the seed of this new series on my Virtual Space: “Reflections over a Cup of Tea.”

Where the idea began

It started a few days ago, in the most ordinary way. I went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea, that small ritual that helps me clear my mind. While the water boiled, I picked up the teabag and, almost by chance, noticed the tiny paper tag hanging from its string. Printed in simple letters was a phrase—a little dose of Stoic wisdom.

In that moment, something clicked. I realized that something as common as a teabag could carry age-old ideas. It reminded me that philosophy doesn’t live only in ancient books—like those that surround me in my library—but also in life’s small details, ready to speak to us whenever we choose to pay attention.

What to expect from this series

My aim is simple: to offer a small oasis of calm and thought in the middle of the week—a place to slow down and nourish the mind.

In each installment of Reflections over a Cup of Tea we will:

  • Take a phrase found on a tea tag as our starting point.
  • Explore its origin and meaning, looking into the author or the context that shaped it.
  • Bring that wisdom into the 21st century, connecting it to today’s challenges: work stress, relationships, purpose, and our emotional life.

This won’t be an academic philosophy class. It will be a quiet conversation—a shared exercise in introspection.

☕ My invitation: when you see a new post, join me with your own cup of tea—or whatever you prefer. Take ten minutes to read, breathe, and let the ideas speak to your experience.

This will be a space for pausing. For reflecting. For rediscovering the depth that lives in the simple.

I’m excited to begin this journey. The first reflection is coming very soon. Until then, I’ll put the water on to boil.
